Vote 'no' on Prop. 2

Reducing our carbon footprint has become an important collective goal and a personal commitment. One popular strategy is purchasing locally produced farm products. When we “buy local” we avoid the need for transporting tons of products thousands of miles by truck, ship or plane. In San Diego, we are lucky to have access to locally produced fruits, vegetables, nursery products and eggs.

Now, Proposition 2 threatens to take some of the choice away from us. The economic reality is that a vote for Proposition 2 is a vote to put local, family-owned egg farms out of business. Without locally produced eggs we will be buying eggs that are trucked in from other states and Mexico. Vote “no” and protect our choice to buy local.
