Kenneth H. Simpson

Kenneth H. Simpson, Jr., 73, passed away from cancer at his home in Laytonville, CA, on October 31, 2008.

He is survived by brothers Ronald Simpson of Fallbrook and James Russell Simpson of Yucca Valley and youngest sister Rebekah of Greenwater, WA. He was preceded in death by sister Sally Ann Fleming just a short week before.

Kenneth (Miggy) was born on December 8, 1934, in San Diego to Kenneth and Maxine Simpson. His great-great-grandparents were Henry and Martha Gird, early founders of the town of Fallbrook. He attended schools locally until he joined the Army and was sent to Korea.

Miggy worked for San Diego County Road Department for 20 years. During that time he was a rabid San Diego Chargers fan. His nephews and friends liked to spend Sundays with “Big Mig” either at the games or watching them with him at home. After retirement, he moved to Yucca Valley, then on to Laytonville, where he lived out the rest of his life.

There will be a celebration of his life (and his sister’s) at Live Oak Park on Saturday, November 22, from noon to 4:30 p.m. It will be a potluck, so bring a dish and your memories of “Big Mig” to share.

Donations may be made in their names to: Live Oak Park Coalition, PO Box 2974, Fallbrook, CA 92088.
