Citizens show concern over crime

Thanks to the individuals that networked/encouraged hundreds of people to pack Zion Lutheran Church’s auditorium on October 28 for the crime prevention meeting, sponsored by the Fallbrook Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee (FCCPC). It was evident that the public was showing concern and support about decreasing the level of crime affecting them in Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow and De Luz.

Sgt. Joe Montion, patrol supervisor, Fallbrook Sheriff’s Substation, shared extensive gang details and recent pictures in a Power Point presentation of how to recognize documented local gang members who could be “casing” your neighborhood.

He listed the local areas/streets they hang out and valuable advice on how to deal with gang confrontations and the types of weapons they might use, like a specific type of belt buckle.

Different pro-active approaches by law enforcement are being taken for public safety like continued gang sweeps, securing a Gang Suppression Team and a gang injunction.

Lt. Derek Clark, supervisor, North County Regional Gang Task Force, explained how the transient gangs are infiltrating and impacting Fallbrook communities with major crime activities like assault, battery and vandalism.

He explained what the gang suppression team entails and its positive influence on curtailing gang activity and crime.

With proactive citizens and law enforcement, FCCPC is dedicated to supporting these goals and acting as a catalyst in securing resources for public safety.
