Village Home Care leads the way with quality assistance

Village Home Care, based in Fallbrook, was formed 10 years ago and continues to be a leading provider in caregiver services. When looking for the right caregiver, Village Home Care’s reputation for quality care remains unsurpassed.

When one needs a helping hand, Village Home Care is there to help.

“We assist with personal care, bathing and showering, meal planning, shopping, assisting with exercising and medication reminders,” said owner Carol Stevens. “Providing a clean, safe environment is one of our priorities.”

Her caregivers provide transportation and have been known to accompany travelers on trips to ensure safe arrival at their destination, Stevens added.

Adult children caring for both their elderly parents and their own children are being coined the Sandwich Generation. This group is finding relief in the fact that caregivers can help in a variety of ways.

Many of these adult children, Stevens explained, live out of town and feel it is crucial to have a caregiver check on the wellbeing of their parents.

“Our services provide an extra pair of hands to help, an extra pair of eyes to see and a way to add quality to life,” said Stevens. “Many times, our seniors would rather have a caregiver help with personal care instead of a daughter or son,” as “maintaining of dignity” is highly important to a senior.

When an individual needs care following surgery, Village Home Care has the ability to pitch in during this important healing and recuperation time.

Caregivers can assist with standard duties and also help with making the bed, doing laundry and feeding pets.

Village Home Care provides a time of respite for family caregivers, who in many cases, is the patient’s spouse.

“We do overnight care, which allows primary family caregivers to get a good night’s sleep,” added Stevens, who knows how nights can be a challenge when a patient returns home from the hospital.

Stevens seeks the following human qualities when choosing a caregiver: passion, patience and experience.

“I am blessed to have some really fantastic caregivers,” said Stevens. “Knowing who you hire, and why they want to work in this field, is important.”

Some of her caregivers have been part of the Village Home Care team since its inception.

Having spent her youth and adult life in Fallbrook, Stevens takes her business seriously by offering enhanced care to the people in her hometown.

“I have a responsibility to provide quality caregivers to those who need our services,” she said. “I have caregivers who are retired nurses, medical assistants, certified nursing assistants and home healthcare aids.”

Years ago, Stevens found her passion in caring for others and began working in a nursing home while she was in high school.

At MiraCosta College, Stevens received her Vocational Nurse licensing and was employed at skilled nursing facilities.

“I worked in skilled nursing facilities for over 20 years teaching certified nursing classes,” said Stevens. “I always felt a satisfaction at the end of my work day when I was able to make a difference in the life of someone.”

For Stevens, opening Village Home Care meant that her caregivers could spend quality and personalized time with clients.

When someone is sick, frail or needs some assistance, said Stevens, knowing that their caregivers can help in the comfort of one’s own home is immense.

“And if [clients] reside in assisted living facilities, we can also provide extra assistance there,” added Stevens. “Wherever [clients] call home, we go.”

Stevens said she has been truly blessed with dependable staff and remains privileged to help the people in her community. “Village Home Care is here to help.”
