Berta (Alberta) Georgia Cariker

Berta (Alberta) Georgia Cariker of Fallbrook died peacefully on November 20, 2008, at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Donald L. Cariker.

Berta was born October 27, 1912, in Chattanooga, TN, to Joseph and Nettie St. Pierre. She attended Fullerton College and later worked in the wardrobe department of MGM. Berta riveted the wings on the A-20 attack bomber for Douglas Aircraft during World War II.

Berta was a founding member of local PEO Chapter UH, which promotes educational opportunities for women, and was an avid golfer along with Don at the Fallbrook Golf Club.

Berta is survived by daughter Barbara Villaneda of Utah; grandchildren Lori, Lisa, Don and Gregg Risner and Linda McNeil; and many nieces and nephews. She was outgoing and easily made lifelong friendships.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, December 13, at Fallbrook United Methodist Church.
