George Kenneth Simmons

George Kenneth Simmons passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his home in Oceanside. He was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Roseville, CA. At a young age he moved to Missouri with his family and served in the US Maritime Service for 11 years, later returning to Southern California, where he lived the rest of his life.

He retired after more than 30 years with North American Rockwell (now Boeing).

George was a kind and caring man. His love and devotion to his Masonic Fraternity was outstanding. He was raised a Master Mason in La Mirada Lodge #778 on March 31, 1976. He later became a member of Hemet Lodge, San Jacinto Lodge and Fallbrook Lodge. He served both La Mirada and Fallbrook as Worshipful Master, first in 1982 and then in 2006. He was awarded the Hiram Award by Hemet Lodge in 1997.

He was also a member of Poinsettia Chapter and Fallbrook Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.

George is survived by his wife, Shirley; brothers Steven Simmons, Seattle, and Norman Simmons (Claudette), Oroville; daughter Janel Graham, Anaheim; niece Shirley Carlson, Joice, IA; and nephew Jack Franklyn (Claudia), Idyllwild.

George will be missed by the many people he touched but especially by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Fallbrook Masonic Lodge, 203 Rockycrest Road, on Saturday, December 6, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow on Monday, December 8, at Riverside National Cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
