Flurry of activities fills Fallbrook High

The Fallbrook High ASB has some exciting events that are occurring in the next two weeks. This week the school participated in one of their best programs called Breaking Down the Walls, activities that are dedicated to breaking down the barriers which students and staff face within the school. The week began with the Breaking Down the Walls assembly, which all Fallbrook High students experienced. Scott Greenberg, a well-known motivational speaker, set the stage for the events to come as the week progressed. In the next few days, students who were nominated or wanted to participate in a day session experienced this program. Selected seniors led small groups while the kids played games, learned new ideas about the walls we often put around ourselves and each individual came out of the session with a new outlook on life. This monumental week ended today, but hopefully the students will continue to break down the walls in their lives at our school and community.

Another event which was kicked into high gear on December 8 was the ASB Toy Drive. All toys donated are given to the Fallbrook Food Pantry. The toy drive will go through December 18, so if you want to help with this community service activity please contact Wade Colburn at [email protected]. Make this Christmas the best ever for those less fortunate kids in our community.

Just before all the students leave for Christmas Break is the Festival of Cultures Week and assembly. This week, headed up by Human Relations Committee members, will consist of showing off the diversity of cultures at our school. On Wednesday, December 17, the school will have food to buy from various cultures around the world. This food tasting used to be a highlight of the year, but the last few years it did not occur. Now with it back, the students get a firsthand experience of the food from different countries without having to travel there.

Then on Friday, December 19, the ASB is hosting its annual Festival of Cultures assembly. Some of the highlights of the event will be the World Beat Center performance and performances from clubs on campus.

The final activity, which is taking place this Saturday, December 13, is the Snow Ball. This formal dance will take place at the high school and the last day to buy tickets is tomorrow. Every student who buys a ticket to the dance will receive a raffle ticket for a drawing of great prizes and for every toy that is brought to the dance, students will receive an additional raffle ticket! Make sure you come and support the high school while having a great time at this dance.
