Mildred (Mimi) C. Cloutier

Mildred (Mimi) C. Cloutier, 94, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2008. She was born August 15, 1914, in Osborne, KS, the eighth of 11 children born to Earl L. and Louella M. McNutt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. Cloutier.

In 1936, she moved to Southern California and lived in Los Angeles and Whittier. She retired from the Montebello School District and moved to Fallbrook in 1973 with her husband to be closer to family. They enjoyed their retirement with their children and grandchildren living with their son Robert and family on their avocado and horse ranch.

She was active in the Young-at-Heart Club and did volunteer work at the Fallbrook Senior Citizens Center and for the Meals on Wheels program. She was very active, receiving the Presidential Fitness Award at the age of 85. She enjoyed baking, gardening, mentoring children, playing cards, family gatherings, vacationing with family and friends, playing bingo and taking bus trips with her friends.

She is survived by children Robert Thompson, Henderson, NV, Carolyn Thompson, Rice Lake, WI, Patricia LaBarre, Escondido, CA, and Ernest F. Cloutier Jr., Rancho Bernardo, CA; grandchildren Valerie and Kelley Thompson, Mike and Ron LaBarre, Keith and Suzanne Cloutier; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Ruby Esparsa, Raymore, MO.

The family wishes to extend its utmost appreciation to Cynthia Mettecheck, her family and staff at Brook Road Elder Care for the wonderful, loving care they provided to Mimi over seven years. They also wish to thank Fallbrook Hospital for their help and sympathetic care.

A memorial service will be held in January for immediate family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fallbrook Hospital Hospice.
