New Year's Eve party for teens

MURRIETA — Mulligan Family Fun Center will be hosting the Third Annual Alcohol-Free New Year’s Eve Party featuring a Battle of the Bands.

The event includes unlimited use of go-karts, miniature golf, lazer tag, rock wall, video games and some surprise New Year’s Eve goodies.

The hours will be from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m.

This year local performers will be competing for more than $1,000 worth of cash and prizes.

Guitar Center of Murrieta donated the first prize of a Schecter Damien 6 guitar. First place will also get $300 in cash and three hours of recording studio time donated by Temecula Sounds.

The second place finisher will get $150 in cash and third place will get $50 donated by USA Federal Credit Union.

Some of the artists competing this year are Joe Hogan’s Death Metal Band, Bad Robots, Brianna Thomas and Spared.

The Murrieta Anti Drug Alcohol and Tobacco Abuse Coalition (MADATAC) is organizing the event again this year with the help of Friday Night Live from Riverside.

“We are trying to make this a fun event for teens,” said MADATAC President Eric Lahti, “and we want parents to feel their teenagers are safe for New Year’s.”

MADATAC is also providing most of the prize money.

Pre-sale tickets are available now at Mulligan; tickets will cost more at the door.
