Mroz, Shumway sworn in as Healthcare District directors

FALLBROOK — At the Fallbrook Healthcare District board meeting of December 10, Barbara Mroz and Lynette Shumway were sworn in as directors.

For each of these women, it is the first time serving on a board of directors. Each has indicated that she looks forward to serving the Fallbrook community for her four-year term.

Both women bring healthcare backgrounds and experience to the board.

Mroz, an 18-year resident of Fallbrook, worked for several years in the managed healthcare field.

Shumway is a registered nurse who works at Fallbrook Hospital as a quality improvement coordinator. She is a resident of Fallbrook.

At the meeting, the board elected their officers for the upcoming year. Gordon Tinker was elected president; Milt Davies, vice president; and Mroz, secretary.

The office of treasurer is appointed by the president and Tinker appointed Hollis Moyse. This is the third year to which Moyse has been appointed to this office.

There are five standing committees of the board and Tinker assigned each director to serve.

The committee assignments are:

• Finance/Audit/Grant/Investment: Moyse, chair; Shumway, member

• Facilities: Shumway, chair; Tinker, member

• Long-Range Planning: Milt Davies, chair; Moyse, member

• Community Programs: Mroz, chair; Davies, member

• Government & Public Relations: Tinker, chair; Mroz, member

The function of each committee is defined in the bylaws of the Fallbrook Healthcare District.

As the newly defined board moves into the new year, their mission remains unchanged: continuing services provided by Fallbrook Hospital; identifying, promoting and supporting a broad range of healthcare-related needs within the district; and managing district assets.

The Fallbrook Healthcare District Board of Directors meets the second Wednesday of each month at Fallbrook Hospital. Meetings begin at 5 p.m. and generally run for one hour.

The agenda of each meeting is posted at the outpatient entrance to the hospital and at the district administrative office at 577 East Elder, Unit U, 72 hours prior to each meeting. The agenda is also provided to the local newspapers.

Board meetings are open to all interested.

Questions may be directed to the Fallbrook Healthcare District office at (760) 731-9187.
