Marjorie Short Galloway

Marjorie Short Galloway was born to James and Barbara Short on November 26, 1914, in Missouri Valley, IA. She passed away December 15, 2008. She married John Galloway in April of 1935 and they settled in Fallbrook in 1939.

Marge was a switchboard operator for the phone company while Camp Pendleton was under construction, and John ran their Shell Service Station for 33 years. John retired and became a successful realtor.

Marge was his loyal companion, by his side at Rotary and realty functions. She was a member of the Methodist Women’s Society and the Rebecca Lodge. She spent endless hours spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their sporting events or serving her fresh-squeezed orange juice and waffles on Saturday mornings, and who could forget the Sherry cakes? She will be missed beyond words.

Marge was preceded in death by husband John Galloway, brother Ernest Short, sisters Helen Gates of Fallbrook and Edith Leonard of Ojai, CA, and grandson Ronald Almendarez.

She is survived by daughters Donna Oxford of Fallbrook and Barbara McMasters of Clovis; grandchildren John Almendarez of Fallbrook, Darci Conley of Wildomar, Darren Almendarez of New York and Julie McMasters of Clovis; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service was held December 22 at the Masonic Cemetery in Fallbrook.
