SR76 Action Alert

There are a number of us who are proposing that CalTrans make the decision to go with the Southern Alignment for the new 76 Expressway.

We have been told by Mark Phelan that we need to get our comments in before January 1 because, as he was quoted in the Village News (11/30/08), “There hasn’t been a large opposition to either of the plans, though most seem to prefer that CalTrans simply just widen the existing road.”

The new CalTrans southern alignment proposal makes much more sense! There is dramatically less impact on the environment and on people. It also eliminates going near or through Rancho Monserate Mobile Home Park.

If the existing alignment is widened, there will be a concrete barrier all the way from Gird Road to South Mission (River Village). Access to 76 will only be possible by making right turns between those two streets.

Do you realize how our little rural neighborhood streets will be clogged?

CalTrans says in their literature that by 2030 either alignment will need to be widened to six lanes. Where will those two extra lanes com from on the northern side?

We are asking you to contact us through Seth Essenfeld at the Bonsall Photo and Postal Center in River Village, (760) 941-9221, for information as to how you can help and have your voice heard.

If you want more angst and traffic problems, do nothing. If you want a better quality of life in our precious neighborhoods, contact us today!
