Free service can increase air conditioner efficiency

FALLBROOK — Many people want to “go green” but don’t have the means to purchase hybrid vehicles or install solar panels on their roof.

However, thousands of people in California took steps in 2008 to “go green” with no green.

Synergy Companies is an energy service company that works with various no-cost programs available to utility customers throughout the state of California.

The idea behind these programs is to implement energy-saving measures that will help reduce energy usage and save on energy costs.

A wonderful energy-saving program is available to help residential homes’ air conditioning and duct systems.

In many cases, ducts are wasting conditioned air through leaks and holes. Therefore, the program involves a diagnostic test to check for leaks and holes and also provides the sealing of the ducts to help increase efficiency.

The air conditioning tune-up involves checking the refrigerant level and adjusting as needed, changing the filter and cleaning the condenser coil.

How is this free? This program is funded by California utility customers.

The funding has already been allocated for energy saving purposes. Therefore, utility customers have already paid for it.

SDG&E utility customers with homes built before 2006 qualify for this free program.

Who is Synergy Companies? The Energy Management Division of Synergy Companies serves the investor-owned utilities community (PG&E, SCE, SCG and SDG&E) as well as other municipal and local power companies.

Synergy is a fully qualified contractor who works with the public and the utility company to provide cost-effective energy efficiency measures to residential and non-residential markets and works to create energy-efficient homes, offices, commercial properties and a more secure energy future for California and the Nation.
