Bello Lei Salon welcomes LaVoie

FALLBROOK — Daria LaVoie is a native of Southern California and has been a professional hairstylist for 35 years. Although she has only been in Fallbrook for a year she says she has fallen in love with the town and its people.

Most of LaVoie’s career has been in salons in Belmont Shores, Park Plaza and Naples. Prior to moving to Fallbrook, she took a brief hiatus from styling. Now working at Bello Lei Salon, LaVoie says she is refreshed, recharged and has regained the passion she had for styling when she was 20.

LaVoie has studied at the Vidal Sassoon Hair Academy in San Francisco, studied a technique called Volumetrics under Alan Benfield Bush (of Obeus), has trained with “Dusty” (of TIGI in Newport Beach) and studied the Paul Mitchell techniques over the span of her career.

She has been on stage three consecutive years at the Long Beach Annual Hairdressers’ Convention. She also has experience teaching various techniques in Los Angeles County.

As with most good hairstylists, LaVoie is skilled at coloring, elegant up-dos, highlights and perms.

When asked what her forte is, she says that it is her intuitive ability to match the right hairstyle, cut and texture to a person’s facial features, personality, occupation, profile and lifestyle. “People don’t have to be a slave to their hair once they have the right cut for their hair type,” says LaVoie.

The thing she loves the most is when someone sits in her chair and says, “Do what you think will look best!” It is the creativity involved in her work that she finds most rewarding. “I love helping people look and feel better about themselves.”

Bello Lei is located at 131 West Beech Street in the Sun Center, Fallbrook’s oldest commercial building. Appointments with Daria LaVoie can be made by calling (760) 723-9361.
