Helen M. Martin

Jesus called Helen M. Martin home at the age of 89 on January 22, 2009. She died peacefully at her Fallbrook home after battling leukemia and congestive heart failure. The family wants to thank her many friends from the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, and her neighbors, for all their help and love over the years. She requested no funeral or service.

Helen was born in San Diego and grew up in Altadena, where she and her parents lived over their grocery store, Wadstroms’ Grocery. She was an elementary school teacher for 37 years at Jefferson Elementary School in Pasadena.

She enjoyed singing in the choir, gardening, camping and children. Helen and her husband Ray relocated to Fallbrook in 1980, where she was a substitute teacher at Fallbrook Elementary School. She volunteered as a “pink lady” at the hospital, at the Senior Citizen Center and with children’s activities at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church, bells and choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Ray Martin. She is survived by son Bill Martin of Fallbrook and daughter Joanna Masterson of Daytona Beach, FL. Her wish has come true to see Jesus face to face.
