Please help fight for the animal sanctuary

It has come to my attention that Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary (FAS) is being pressed from San Diego County for a Land Use Permit. This could mean up to a $50,000 problem.

FAS leased property in a remote location on top of a little knoll off the I-15 freeway. They provide a service that no one else in the county provides.

This no-kill sanctuary provides shelter, food and love for all animals, plus many receive a new start on life. The never-ending work of caring continues tirelessly for the animals that are taken to the shelter. Veterinary care is provided to those in need as well as spay and neutering, too.

The best part of this project is the adoptions created by the sanctuary give hope and heart to dozens of cats and dogs each year.

How can doing such a great service for the good of many communities be kicked around the county? How is it that the county can bulldoze a small, not-for-profit service into extinction?

FAS provides opportunities for young and old to give of their time and talent. Such a worthy activity is offered to those who may be handicapped too. Opportunities to do for others should be encouraged in the county, not squashed with bureaucratic horse manure.

Make your opinion felt. Write to County Supervisor Bill Horn or to the editor of the Village News to “stand for something that is right.”
