FALLBROOK — At the January meeting, the board of directors of the Angel Society approved the following donations from proceeds earned at their Angel Shop thrift store:
• $5,000 to youth music education outreach program for Fallbrook schools sponsored by Fallbrook Music Society
• $1,000 to Fallbrook Beautification Alliance for the maintenance of median landscaping on South Mission
• $5,000 to Foundation for Senior Care to fund “Health Watch,” which provides monitors to low-income seniors living independently
• $300 to VFW Ladies Auxiliary to host a baby shower for 15 military mothers-to-be
Angel directors and member volunteers are also working with various programs to introduce the younger generation to the joys of volunteerism.
Teachers from Oasis High School, the AVID program and patronesses of National Charity League, San Luis Rey Chapter, are bringing students to the Angel Shop to participate in this endeavor.
The Angel Society is also partnering with the Workability Program at Fallbrook High School.
Recently Jenny Promack brought a group of fourth- and fifth-graders from Christ The King Lutheran Church to help organize and arrange merchandise.
The Angel’s Attic (upstairs in the Angel Shop) now offers yards and yards of new fabric for sale, thanks to a generous donor.
The Angel’s Attic, open during regular Angel Shop hours, also features framed art, linens, home décor, wedding dresses, formal attire and seasonal items.
The Angel Shop, located at 1002 South Main, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
