SANDAG seeks $9M for SR76

The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) has approved its annual list of project funding requests for the Federal transportation appropriations cycle.

The Fiscal Year 2010 list approved by the SANDAG board January 23 includes a $9 million request for the widening of State Route 76.

SANDAG’s total request package seeks $287.15 million for 32 projects.

The requested funding for SR76 would provide that funding source for both the segment between Melrose Drive in Oceanside to Mission Road and from Mission Road to Interstate 15.

The 2010 Federal fiscal year will begin on October 1 and the transportation appropriation process is expected to begin in February.

SANDAG staff worked with the California Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Transit System, and the North County Transit District to update requests for regional highway and transit projects, and local jurisdictions were invited to submit requests for local roadway, bicycle, and pedestrian projects.
