Thank you for attending crime prevention meeting

What a commendable effort by Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow’s district school superintendents, organizations, churches, businesses, concerned community members and the Village News to help network data about the DEA’s rare presentation, sponsored by Fallbrook Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee (FCCPC) at Zion Lutheran Church, on January 27.

Kudos to everyone involved because you helped pulled almost 200 people, per sign-in sheets/documented non-signers, for this unique presentation from the US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration.

The attendees didn’t want the DEA to end their details, when describing how six Fallbrook homes were converted into an indoor marijuana-growing operation and neighbors were clueless at first.

In 2008, 70 marijuana groves were raided in the Fallbrook/Bonsall/De Luz area. These officials gave extensive tips on how to spot meth labs, even distinct smells associated with their operations and common products used as a base, like Drano. Ordinary household items such as coffee filters and over-the-counter cold medication are used by meth kitchen labs.

The public is absolutely concerned about illicit drugs, crime and how drug trafficking is having an affect on their quality of life in these communities.

There is a definite correlation between illicit drugs and violent crime. With proactive citizens, federal, state and local law enforcement, FCCPC is dedicated to support these goals for public safety and act as a catalyst in securing resources.
