Pastor David Witt, author of “The Spirit of Martyrdome,” will speak at Christ The King Lutheran Church at all three services Saturday evening, February 21, and Sunday, February 22. His travels as associate representative with “The Voice of the Martyrs” have taken him to 18 restricted nations and he has brought encouragement to the believers there.

Lent is the 40-day period of repentance and renewal which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter morning. It is a special time for meditation, prayer and penitential practices. There is an increased understanding of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection, renewal of baptismal vows and recommitment to the Christian life.

This year, Ash Wednesday will fall on February 25.

At Christ The King Lutheran Church, dinner will be at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, followed by worship at 7 in the Sanctuary. Service will include communion and the imposition of ashes. The Lenten Bible Study, “40 Days of Love,” will follow for six weeks afterward from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (childcare available).

St. Peter’s Catholic Community will celebrate with Mass in English at 7 a.m. and 12 and 6 p.m. and in Spanish at 7:30 p.m. Liturgy of the Word will be in English at 10 and 11 a.m. and 2 and 4 p.m. and in Spanish at 1, 3, 6:15 and 7 p.m.
