Also serving the communities of De Luz, Rainbow, Camp Pendleton, Pala and Pauma

William James Ferral

William James Ferral left this world February 11, 2009. He was loved by many, especially his wife of 49 years, Terry. He is survived also by his children Rita Canclini, Liz Ferral, Matt Ferral, Joe Ferral, Frank Ferral and Pete Ferral.

Born in Decatur, IL, on November 6, 1933, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served proudly for 34 years and which included a tour in Vietnam. Retiring in 1986, Bill moved to Fallbrook, where he began work as the landscaper for Fallbrook Hospital. He quickly became known for his warm sense of humor and signature ‘rose in a Styrofoam cup’ which he offered to many as a gesture of hope and goodwill.

Bill loved Fallbrook and served his community quietly in small but significant ways such as bus stop beautification, collecting Major Market receipts for various organizations and placing American flags on the gravesites of veterans on Memorial Day.

A funeral service was held February 17 at the Mainside Chapel on Camp Pendleton.

“One Beer Bill” will be missed by everyone, including friends at the VFW Post 1924 and the Knights of Columbus. Semper Fi, Gunner Ferral!
