Gloria Yvonne Berkstresser

Gloria Yvonne Berkstresser quietly left home and tiptoed into heaven on Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Born June 16, 1927, in Saskatchewan to Phillip and Antoinette Cossette, she was married to Kenneth Berkstresser for 63 years. Having resided in Whittier for half their married life, the couple found Fallbrook fit their perfect retirement criteria and they spent a happy 26 years here.

Gloria was known by all she came in contact with as a beautiful, gracious lady; her friends are myriad. She was active in the Encore Club and especially cherished the Sew and Such ladies. The Senior Center was the benefactor of her volunteerism over many years, as was the VFW Post 1924 Auxiliary. Others will remember her joy working with the Fallbrook Community Theater and her fierce mahjongg competition.

She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Donald and, very recently, Roger. Her surviving family will never fill the void left by her absence, and she will be especially missed by her husband, Kenny; brother Richard (Bonnie), Lake Havasu; and sister Carole (Ron) Riggin, Oceanside. The extended Berkstresser family was privileged to be counted among her relatives. She was also the best-loved auntie to three generations of nieces and nephews.

Interment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery will be private.
