Citizen Academy applications due March 11

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is holding a free two-day Citizen Academy on Saturdays, April 18 and 25, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The last day to apply is March 11; class size is limited to 50 students.

The academy sessions will include a K-9 demonstration, jail tour and the Sheriff’s museum. Topics to be covered are crime scene investigations, financial crimes, crime prevention and more.

Those students who attend both class sessions will receive an official graduation certificate. All applicants must be at least 18 and will undergo a background check prior to acceptance in the Citizens Academy.
