Hollingsworth taps members for key positions

SACRAMENTO — Senator Republican Leader Dennis Hollingsworth (R-Murrieta) announced February 25 his new selections for roles within his Senate Republican Leadership Team.

Effective immediately, Senator Mimi Walters (R-Laguna Hills) is assuming the duties of the Assistant Senate Republican Leader. Senator Walters is well known for her commonsense fiscal discipline and commitment to governmental reform.

Hollingsworth said, “Senator Walters is a talented and gifted individual with unwavering principles who is best known for her conservative principles. As our state continues to tackle the serious fiscal issues plaguing California, I am confident that Walters will provide a sound fiscal approach that best represents California working families.”

Senator Tony Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) has been appointed Assistant Senate Republican Leader – Elections. Senator Strickland will advise and help move forward the Senate Republican Leader’s elections goals. “Senator Strickland is a dynamic and energetic person who understands California elections, having successfully prevailed in one of the most contentious and closely watched State Senate elections in California history,” Hollingsworth said. “His talents and contributions will help to serve and move our vision, values and beliefs forward.”

Finally, Senator Mark Wyland (R-Carlsbad) is assuming the duties of the Assistant Senate Republican Leader – Policy Development. Senator Wyland is widely respected by both sides of the aisle as a thoughtful and well-grounded member who has consistently championed governmental reform and efficiency throughout his legislative career.

“Senator Wyland is highly respected for his firm command of state policy issues, especially education reform,” Hollingsworth said. “As we continue to reform our state’s broken budget system, Wyland will help guide and shape the nature of the debate to rebuild our state’s fiscal house.”

Dennis Hollingsworth represents the 36th District, which includes Southwest Riverside County, north and east San Diego County and portions of the City of San Diego.
