Emory: a real estate professional who cares

At Coldwell Banker Landmark Group (CBLG), Realtor Susan “Susie” Emory is highly regarded as a 20-year expert in the field. The vast amount of awards decorating her office walls underscores her real estate savvy, determination, ongoing education and excellent customer service skills.

Emory was first introduced to real estate when she and a group of girlfriends took a class at Palomar College back in the 1980s. Truth be told, she wasn’t enthralled with the prospect of becoming a Realtor. But in time, that changed.

Back then, Emory was a travel agent at (the former) Countrywide Travel in Fallbrook. One of the owners of CBLG booked travel plans through her. “He told me that I was missing the boat and that I needed to get a real estate license,” said Emory.

As Emory says, she “bit the bullet” and got licensed. Back then, there wasn’t a mentoring program, so Emory had to be a fast learner and very observant.

“I watched enough agents to see how it worked and to see what my niche would be,” said Emory, whose areas of concentration are residential, bare land and commercial properties. Along the way, she fine-tuned her listening and negotiating skills.

With many real estate achievements to her credit, Emory is proud of the fact that her referral-base is the main lifeblood of her business. “Most of my business is from past clients and their referrals,” she said.

Customer service means everything to Emory and making certain that her clients are happy is of the utmost importance. She continually gauges her performance by the feedback she receives from her company’s Customer Satisfaction Survey, which gives each client an opportunity to rate their Realtor. Emory saves each and every one of them.

In addition to enjoying the wonderful feedback from these surveys, Emory also makes them accessible to future clients so they may learn more about her. “I am shy and I don’t like to brag or boast about myself,” she said, elated with the fact that people can read about her accomplishments through the surveys instead.

Receiving a glowing report is a huge triumph for this Realtor: “When I get one, it makes my heart soar knowing that I am doing my job right and that people are happy with me.”

Although the current real estate climate has its challenges, Emory continues to serve her clients well. While she is assisting buyers in looking for the best deal possible, she is also taking special care of those who are selling their homes in this high-inventory market.

For a lot of sellers, she said, it has been a stressful time and they have been confused about which avenue to take. In many ways, Emory serves as a real estate counselor.

“I have been walking [clients] through the system and letting them know that we are there to help them,” she said. “Things are fragile right now for sellers.”

During these hectic times, working with CBLG has served Emory and her clients well. Her office provides an upscale on-site print shop, ongoing education and property management and is up to date on all real estate facets. “Our office gives us all the tools we need and then some,” she said. “They really help us be on top of our game.”

Recently, CBLG instituted a new software design named “Sure Close” for escrow tracking. “It is so great that our clients have the capability to log on to our site and see where their transaction is at every given point,” Emory enthused.

Emory valures the people she has met and the relationships she has made over the years.

“I get attached to my clients,” she said. “They are like an extension of my family.”
