Experiencing the Skilled Nursing Facility firsthand

Last month, following surgery for a knee replacement, I spent a week at Fallbrook’s Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). While my initial plan upon discharge from Fallbrook Hospital was to go home, my doctor, H. Ward Brooks, convinced me that my recovery period would be considerably shortened by going to SNF.

My initial reluctance to go there was based upon previous visits to see friends and neighbors and by comments made by others about the facility. It only took a day or so before I realized that everything I had been told about SNF was wrong, as I couldn’t have been treated better by its caring and competent staff.

The housekeeping staff does an amazing job in keeping the facility clean and all of the personnel with whom I came in contact during my stay did their jobs with a smile on their face and a cheery word to all. I came away from my week’s stay with an entirely different viewpoint about the facility, and while I wouldn’t want to go there for a vacation, I feel that the residents of Fallbrook are extremely fortunate to have this facility available for our needs.
