La Paloma GATE students had an opportunity to create their own artwork masterpieces when they visited the art museums in Balboa Park.

FALLBROOK — On February 12, 70 La Paloma GATE students enjoyed the opportunity to visit Balboa Park.
The trip was planned and organized by ArtDay teacher Vonda Day and included a tour of the San Diego Museum of Art and art instruction at the San Diego Art Institute Museum of the Living Artist.
Principal Lea Curcio and teachers Erin Corduan, Kandyce Smith and Brooke Stebner joined the students and 15 parents for a day at the park.
The students were divided into groups in order to better enjoy the museums. The groups rotated between museums, art instruction and lunch in the park.
The well-organized trip allowed for each student to fully enjoy both viewing the pieces at the museums as well as creating hands-on artwork. The fact that the students were unrushed and had access to a variety of activities, and the gorgeous Southern California weather, combined to make it a day to remember for all.
