Blaze destroys home in Pala Mesa

A fire destroyed the Fallbrook home of a couple in their 70s at around 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, March 22. The structure fire took place in the 4000 block of Serrano Court, off of Pala Mesa Drive and Daisy Lane.

“The home was a complete loss,” said John Buchanan, public information officer for North County Fire Protection District. “The loss has been estimated at approximately $250,000.”

The structure, comprised of approximately 1,250 square feet, was an attached home, but neighboring structures were not affected.

“Firefighters knocked down the blaze in about eight minutes and kept the loss confined to just the one unit,” Buchanan explained. “The guys did a great job.”

Buchanan said the couple whose home was lost is being assisted by the Red Cross.
