Music Society's new season features international soloists

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Music Society’s upcoming 2009-2010 season will showcase celebrated guest soloists and dynamic orchestral and chamber musicians.

Opening the season on November 8, the ever-popular Redlands Symphony will present a masterful performance under the direction of Maestro Jon Robertson.

Guest soloist Willi Schwaiger, a French horn player from the Mozarteum Orchestra in Salzburg, Austria, will present a unique performance by pairing Leopold and Amadeus Mozart’s concerti for horns.

On the guest artists roster with Redlands Symphony on January 31 is the intense young cellist Jonah Kim, born in South Korea, who will perform the impressive and melodically expansive cello concerto by Dvorak.

Prominent young Israeli mandolin player Avi Avital, who has garnered worldwide praise, will display his virtuosity and remarkable skills when he joins the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra on March 28.

Concluding the Symphony Series on May 16 will be an all-Gershwin program, with Jose Menor from Spain joining Redlands Symphony in playing Gershwin’s Piano Concerto.

Additionally, the season offers two special concerts in the Virtuoso Series. On January 17, the Quarteto Vivace Brasil (two guitars, flute and percussion) will delight listeners with music from a variety of eras.

The second concert on April 25 offers a powerful performance by the St. Petersburg Quartet, one of Russia’s leading string ensembles. Compositions by Ravel and Borodin will be performed, all works that have not been previously presented in Fallbrook.

A special event on Sunday, December 6, will feature the William Chunestudy Men’s Chorus and the Chamber Music Ensemble Camarada for a festive Christmas concert.

All performances take place on Sundays at 3 p.m. and each concert will focus on a different repertoire. Listeners will hear these world-class musicians in Fallbrook’s Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, acclaimed for its brilliant acoustics.

Subscriptions and single tickets are now available. Season subscription tickets offer the greatest value and assure seating preferences throughout the concert year.
