Post office bites back

I have to respond to the letter written by Robert F. Green complaining about the service of the Fallbrook Post Office.

I am the carrier who delivers to the Chase Bank on Mission Road and, yes, the letter would have been delivered if it had gotten to me.

I’m sorry the letter was returned, but if Mr. Green had taken the time to look up the address in the wonderful Fallbrook Directory (the address is there, I looked), this would not have happened.

I’m sure it took more time to write a complaining letter than it would have taken to look up the complete address. It is very important to make sure that all mail has a complete mailing address due to the automation of mail and the speed at which it is processed.

The responsibility of correctly addressing a letter falls on the sender. Unfortunately, we do not have the personnel to figure out where all misaddressed mail goes. Sadly, the days of simply addressing a letter to Grandma in the pink house on Maple Street are over.
