Art Association meeting to feature oil paint artist

The next meeting of the Fallbrook Art Association will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, October 12, at the Fallbrook Public Utilities District building, 990 East Mission Road.

Chick Curtis will be the guest artist and will be conducting a landscape oil painting demonstration at the meeting. The meeting and demonstration are open to the general public.

Prior to the demonstration and meeting there will be an informal critique session from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Artists may bring one or two paintings that are in work in any media and will receive input on the strengths of their paintings in the areas of composition, value and color from Curtis.

Curtis lives and paints in Riverside. He entered the art world at midlife and has since become an award-winning artist.

His oil paintings of landscapes, cityscapes and portraits have won awards in many shows. He also works in mixed media, etching and monotype printing. His work can be seen at the Brandon Gallery.

Curtis will be conducting a painting workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, at Fallbrook Public Utilities District. The emphasis for the workshop will be on oil painting, but artists working in any media are welcome to attend.
