Brandon Gallery showcases photo-artists in October

FALLBROOK — “Pushing the Boundaries,” a photo-image exhibition representing unusual views and “way out” images from several prominent and award-winning digital photographers, goes on display October 1 at Brandon Gallery.

More than 35 highly stylized and artistically rendered images, some barely discernible as photos, appear throughout October in Brandon’s Etc. Gallery, a special section devoted to unusual exhibitions.

Participating photographers from Riverside and San Diego counties include Christie Featherstone, Jerry Kalman, Louis Nidorf, Eric Peterson, Robert Sommers, Nicole Toesca and Alberto Varela.

In “Pushing the Boundaries,” these seven artists take the medium of photography beyond normal representational images to distort the obvious, capture and present subtle features, selectively present an unusual aspect of the subject or manipulate what each originally saw by applying unique and often exhaustive post-processing techniques.

Brandon Gallery – located at 105 North Main, one door off Alvarado – is a nonprofit artists’ cooperative with 28 members representing many major creative disciplines.

Each month member and guest artists from San Diego and Riverside counties display hundreds of pieces of art that include textiles and sculpture, jewelry and gourd art, oil and acrylic paintings, watercolors and pastels, greeting cards, printmaking, photography and digital media.
