Fallbrook has a 'Lifeline'

Unemployment is up, the economy has us all nervous, foreclosures continue to rise and we wonder where to go for help. North County Lifeline provides Fair Housing services for residents of Fallbrook and Bonsall through the County of San Diego.

Whether you are renting an apartment for your family or purchasing your first home, federal and state Fair Housing laws apply. Unequal terms or conditions in the sale or rental of housing, restrictions on loans or insurance are illegal.

Strict occupancy rules that limit family size, or a landlord refusing to allow a service animal for a person with a disability, are also illegal. Race, color, religion, sex, disability and families with children are covered under Fair Housing laws.

If you have questions about your housing rights or if you are a landlord wanting to know your rights and obligations, contact the County Housing Department or North County Lifeline at (760) 842-6226.

In these troubled times, there is hope and help for everyone.
