Elizabeth Edna Reed

Elizabeth Edna Reed passed away Tuesday, September 29, at the age of 89. She was born February 7, 1920, in Dominguez, CA, daughter of Charles and Josephine Eilers.

Elizabeth graduated from Compton High School in 1938. She then attended Compton Jr. College and studied dress design and business.

After working as a beauty operator at a beauty school in Belmont Shore, she found her real passion and opened her own beauty shop in Dominguez, retiring in 1955 in order to raise her family.

She met her husband, Lowell, in 1949 and they married in 1952. Their only child, Celeste, was born in 1956. They resided in Long Beach until 1975 and then relocated to Fallbrook and have remained there for the past 34 years. They celebrated 57 years of marriage on September 26.

Elizabeth was the youngest of five children, three brothers and one sister, all who preceded her in death. She resided at Silvergate Retirement Residence.

She was a member of the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church for 25 years and was currently a member of the Fallbrook United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Fallbrook Newcomers, Encore and the Angel Society.

Elizabeth was an incredible seamstress and cook who did her own canning. She loved to entertain, enjoyed playing bridge and working in her garden; fruit trees, vegetables and roses were her specialty.

She especially loved time spent with her two grandchildren, Shaun and Traci, and three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ella and Morgan.

Elizabeth was fun-loving and full of kindness, always available to help anyone who needed it. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She made the decision many years ago to donate her body to UCSD Medical Center upon death so that the students could hopefully gain further medical knowledge.

Elizabeth is survived by husband Lowell, daughter Celeste and son-in-law Mark, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of Fallbrook, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on October 5 at Fallbrook United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Fallbrook Hospice.
