Homecoming pays homeage to The Greatest Show On Earth

Aristotle once stated, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

In my opinion, the first month of school has been nothing but excellence at Fallbrook High School. The Associated Student Body (ASB) has been very active planning numerous events and preparing for Homecoming week beginning October 12.

The theme for Homecoming this year will be “Fallbrook High School: The Greatest Show on Earth.”

The traditional dress-up days for Homecoming week are as follows: Monday, Twin Day; Tuesday, Nerd Day; Wednesday, Crazy Day (combination of Clash Day and Crazy Hair Day); Thursday, Superhero Day; and Friday, Red and White Day.

Each day at lunchtime, a special activity will take place in the quad, run by Activities Commissioner Ashley Stalnaker.

On Friday, October 16, the school will be decked out in the Warrior red and white and a Homecoming pep rally will be held at 9:45 a.m.

The Pep Rally, organized by Pep Commissioner Johnna Vande Vegte, will certainly get the football team pumped up for their game and let them know that students are proud to be Fallbrook Warriors.

The Homecoming football game will be against San Pasqual and begin at 7 p.m. Plan to arrive at the stadium early to get a seat and enjoy the opportunity to see the floats, which are back this year. This year there will be two floats done by classes working together.

The football game looks to be a good one, and at halftime the Homecoming Court will be presented, followed by the announcement of who has been selected as Homecoming Queen.

Warrior fans are encouraged to wear red and white and cheer on the football team, the band and all others associated with the event.

On Saturday, October 17, the annual Homecoming Dance will take place in ‘The Barn’ (old gym) from 8 to 11 p.m. Dance tickets are $28 per couple with an ASB sticker and $33 per couple without; single tickets are $15 each with an ASB sticker and $17 without. The Homecoming King will be announced at the dance.

If you are curious why there is not a Homecoming community service project this year, it is because the ASB has decided to devote a whole week to service instead. It will be known as Legacy Week and highlighted by a service opportunity each day at lunch, a couple off-campus activities, a keynote speaker and a community service fair.

For those interested in helping, wanting more information or willing to help secure a keynote speaker, please e-mail me at [email protected]. Fallbrook High School students are committed to serving others in order to leave a legacy.

The ASB and Fallbrook High are devoted to inspiring excellence and the students are certainly making our high school ‘The Greatest Show on Earth.’
