Empowering women to make life-defining decisions

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) welcomes the public, members and guests to its general meeting on Saturday, October 10, at 10 a.m.

The meeting will be held at the Fallbrook Public Utility building at 990 East Mission.

Attendees will hear from speakers on “Empowering Women to Make Life-defining Health and Financial Decisions.”

Teddie Borges, who specializes in elder care, will address the group relating her experiences in that field.

Borges has been the administrator for the Fallbrook Adult/Senior Care Center for the past seven years. The Center provides professional care and assistance for adults who are frail, physically challenged or mentally impaired.

A community resource specialist, Borges has been certified by the Alzheimer’s Foundation to facilitate support groups and assist caregivers in case management and is involved in fundraising and marketing for the organization.

Sharing the platform with Borges will be Steven Amante, who has 20 years experience in the insurance industry.

Amante, who formed Amante and Associates, Insurance Solutions, Inc., will guide the audience through the maze of insurance and healthcare options particularly suited to seniors.

This should prove to be a very informative program, especially for those faced with making decisions for family members or themselves.

The program has been arranged by Fallbrook AAUW program chairs Chris Young, (760) 728-3011, and Dawn Mitchell, (760) 645-3771, who can be contacted for further information.
