Music Society participates in 'Free Night of Theater'

FALLBROOK — On Sunday, November 8, at 3 p.m., Fallbrook Music Society will participate in the nationwide “Free Night of Theater” program, joining more than 600 theaters in 120 cities in a promotion designed to get new people into live theatrical and musical performances.

Fallbrook Music Society (FMS) will present the Redlands Symphony in a program entitled “Austrian Horn Calls,” which features a father-son relationship (Leopold and Amadeus Mozart) in a performance of their concerti for horns.

Fascinating will be the use of the natural horn (with no valves) for Leopold’s work. These wonderful concerti represent the very light and humorous side of the classical period.

The concert captures Maestro Jon Robertson conducting the widely acclaimed orchestra through emotionally stirring music: Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93: Leopold Mozart’s Horn Concerto in E-flat Major; W. Amadeus Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3 in E-flat Major KV, 447; and Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 31 in D Major (“Horn Signal”).

“We are excited to participate again this year in this valuable nationwide promotion,” said Brenda Montiel, FMS president. “In addition to several other San Diego venues, we are joining this national effort to attract patrons who have never before attended a Fallbrook Music Society performance.”

“So many local people have not had the opportunity to experience our professional music concerts, and the Redlands Symphony is the perfect opportunity to make that introduction,” she added.

The Fallbrook performance is part of the Theater Communications Group’s annual “Free Night of Theater,” designed to offer free theater and concert tickets to new patrons and give them the opportunity to attend a venue they have never visited before.

Tickets for first-timers are limited and must be reserved in advance online. For more information, performance details and tickets, visit http://www.freenightoftheater.net.
