Season's Best offers beautiful floral arrangements, thriving houseplants and delicious produce

Nearing the anniversary of its first year in business, shoppers continue to flock to Season’s Best for premium houseplants, floral bouquets and arrangements and delicious seasonal produce.

This charming yellow country farm stand, owned by Kirk and Michelle Johnson, sits where Reche and Live Oak Park roads meet.

“What’s nice about Season’s Best is that we grow most of our products here,” said Michelle, adding that their other business, Live Oak Greenhouses, is within a stone’s throw. “We give our customers personal attention when creating their bouquets and we really do give them a lot for their money.”

Fresh cut flowers include mums, lilies, alstroemerias, gladiolas, tuberoses and more. One of the most common compliments Season’s Best receives is about their product diversity and freshness.

The Johnsons always extend special effort to meet their customers’ needs. For example, if they don’t have a particular flower in stock, this couple will find it. Making people happy is their mission in business.

Although Live Oak Greenhouses is a wholesale operation, shoppers at Season’s Best have the unique chance to buy its sought-after ivy pants and topiaries, bromeliads, Peperomia and Begonia rex.

Their current Begonia rex crop, Kirk said, is brimful of holiday shades and colors. And Kirk is known in town for offering great plant care advice.

With the holidays right around the corner, Season’s Best is the perfect destination for centerpieces and floral arrangements.

During this busy time of year, Michelle and Kirk have ready-made arrangements in addition to taking personalized orders. Their arrangement prices, Michelle said, typically range from $15 to $25.

Michelle is also available year-round to help party hosts who require on-site assistance to make important floral arrangement decisions. Michelle applies her reasonable consulting fee towards the floral purchases.

Not only are their arrangements attractive, but their floral aroma is sublime. “Our arrangements last at least a week,” said Michelle.

For those who are on a tight wedding budget, the Johnsons offer something rather special: cash and carry floral design service.

“We do the prototype arrangement and provide everything they need to make the piece,” Kirk said. Step by step, the couple shows their customers how to make the floral arrangement on their own.

“We have been really good at working with people’s budgets,” said Kirk, citing how their customers appreciate staying within a given budget, yet getting the most for the money.

Season’s Best also offers a gamut of low-cost containers for floral and evergreen pieces. Or, customers can bring in their own and Michelle will create a masterpiece in it.

Michelle was 16 when she began working with flowers; her natural talent bloomed over time. Her keen eye for incorporating different flowers, fillers, colors and details is a rare gift.

What Michelle and Kirk enjoy most about their business is the opportunity to offer locally grown products.

Their seasonal fresh avocados, oranges and strawberries are incomparable. Their oranges are often purchased by Garden Center Café for their signature freshly squeezed orange juice.
