Warriors bring down San Pasqual Eagles 31-7

On Friday, October 16, the Fallbrook varsity football team hosted the San Pasqual Eagles.

It was the Warriors’ Homecoming night and they did not disappoint as they fulfilled the theme of “The Greatest Show on Earth.” The Fallbrook offense scored continually throughout the game, while its defense shut down the Eagles to cruise on to a 31-7 victory.

San Pasqual started the game in a deflating fashion as they fumbled the ball on the opening kickoff. The Warriors quickly took advantage and capped the 25-yard drive with a touchdown run by Earl Smith.

On the second Fallbrook possession, the Warriors began on their own 38-yard line and easily moved the chains into Eagles’ territory. The drive ended on a 17-yard touchdown run by quarterback Christopher Fuetterer, extending the lead to 14-0.

In the second quarter, the Eagles continued to struggle getting the ball downfield. On a fourth down situation on the Warriors’ 45-yard line, San Pasqual’s quarterback was picked off by Myles May as he returned the ball three yards shy of the end zone.

However, the Eagles were relieved when Fallbrook running back Jarred Moore fumbled the ball on the very next play.

The Warriors quickly regained possession of the ball after San Pasqual unsuccessfully attempted to convert on a fourth down with a fake punt pass.

With four seconds remaining in the first half, Fuetterer threw a strike to receiver Cameron Remy for another touchdown. At halftime, the Warriors led 21-0.

Fallbrook received the ball to open the third quarter. They made their way into the Eagles’ territory with the help of three San Pasqual penalties.

On a play action, Fuetterer managed to find Remy wide open with no defender within 15 yards. This time the pass play went for a 32-yard touchdown, giving the Warriors a commanding 28-0 lead with nine minutes remaining in the quarter.

Later, a Victor Lopez field goal increased the lead to 31 points.

In the final quarter, Fallbrook rested many of their starters. However, the Eagles were still shut down.

Finally, with four minutes left in the game, the Eagles scored on a one-yard run. The touchdown was not enough to the shift momentum as the Warriors beat the Eagles 31-7, keeping them winless.

Fallbrook’s sophomore quarterback seemed much more poised and confident in the pocket as he finished the day with 119 passing yards with a pair of touchdown passes and 60 yards rushing with another touchdown.

“It was a big win. After a rough first five games, I’m feeling a lot more comfortable,” said Fuetterer.

After the game, Remy said, “I think we played well. It’s Homecoming so I’m just glad we came out and did what we had to do.”

Remy finished with 50 yards on two receptions, both for touchdowns.

Fallbrook coach Joe Silvey added, “We made tremendous strides on defense from a week ago. I’m really proud of our quarterback, who’s young and inexperienced but gaining more experience every time he takes the field, so that was nice to see.”
