Taylor wins SD Press Club award for Village News story

SAN DIEGO — Nathalie Taylor took third place in the Review category at the San Diego Press Club Award Banquet held at Balboa Park’s Hall of Champions on October 20 for her story “J.J. Landers Pub: Eat, drink and be merry!” (Village News, 9/25/08).

Taylor compared the establishment to pubs she has visited in Britain with a thorough account.

The story had an entertaining angle: “Speaking of forks, at J.J. Landers they are large, but need to be, in order to capture that marvelous mélange of ingredients in one bite! This is not a place to practice dainty eating. One must tackle the food with passion.”

The awards were not limited to San Diego publications; competitors came from as far away as Los Angeles and Arizona.

Since her first win in 2004, this is the 23rd journalism award Taylor has garnered.

Since January of 2003 Taylor has written stories and taken photographs for the Temecula Valley News and Fallbrook Village News. She also wrote three Village News columns at various times: “Summer Fun,” “Dining Out” and “Out and About.”

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
