Open Mind Book and Gift Store presents open house

FALLBROOK — Through the double French doors of the lobby at Hilltop Center is an enchantingly unique world of treasures.

The Open Mind Book Store is more than just a bookstore. Besides a long list of authors to whet the appetite of avid New Thought readers, an array of unusual fine art from local artisans and one-of-a-kind gifts from faraway places lend this small niche of a store a museum-like quality.

To introduce the store to those who have not yet discovered it, volunteer manager C.J. Monroe is hosting an open house on Saturday, November 21, from noon to 5 p.m. Cheese and wine will be served.

Also on hand will be many of the artists whose works are showcased in the store. Jane Higgins will be demonstrating her handmade silver, gold and copper jewelry and her unusual beadwork.

Other items include teddy bears and rag dolls made by Anne Popovich and stunning sculptures designed from local wood by artist Jan Greenwald.

John Harwood and Margaret Harwood will have some of their award-winning black and white photography pieces on display at the opening.

All-natural remedies for pets and people from Black Wing Farms, colorful leaded glasswork, crystal jewelry by Penny Clark, Inspiration Origami by Claire Meacham and hand-painted gourds will be among the merchandise at the open house.

The store is located at 331 East Elder and is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Entry is through the front door with the stained glass and across the lobby through the double doors. Parking is in front of the building.

The Open Mind Book Store is a 501©3 nonprofit, a place to come to discover the ancient new wisdom of all religions supporting spiritual paths and making the world a better place for all.
