Fallbrook Airpark to be a collection spot for Toys for Tots

FALLBROOK – U.S. Marines in full dress uniform will receive toys at the Fallbrook airpark on Saturday, December 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents can drop off new unwrapped toys prior to the scheduled pick-up. Pilots are also encouraged to fly in with toy deliveries.

Last year, despite inclement weather, Marines filled two nine-ton trucks with toys collected at two county airports. Area pilots also flew in from surrounding airports to deliver toys to the Marines.

“We’re proud and honored to be a part of this annual event, working with U.S. Marines to ensure less fortunate kids in our area have toys for Christmas,” said Chairwoman Dianne Jacob of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. “We’ve always had a great turnout from people delivering toys by car, motorcycle, bicycle, and even airplane. We’re hoping for the same this year.”

“Christmas is a special time of giving and even though many people are going through difficult economic times, this is a great opportunity to put a Christmas present in the hands of a child who might not have one this year,” said former Marine and Fifth District County Supervisor Bill Horn.

In addition to the U.S. Marines and Marine Corps vehicles, several aircraft will be on display during the event.
