RE: 'Building 'green' needs to start at county level' [Letter, Village News, 11-12-09]

In his letter on Nov. 12, Mr. Deuling raised the question as to why the library contractor had not observed the proper disposal of discarded building material as a part of the demolition sequence of our new Fallbrook Library.

As a general contractor, Mr. Deuling is aware of the county ordinance that requires the appropriate recycling of construction and demolition debris in order to divert such waste away from regional land fills.

Our community is very fortunate in that the firm selected to build our new library is a long established and highly regarded California contractor. CW Driver would not circumvent the debris management plan as provisioned by the ordinance.

We applaud Mr. Deulin’s desire that the new library should be green. In fact, our magnificent new Library will be exceedingly green – which includes not only the proper disposal of the demolition waste material but building new with recycled and environmentally qualified products.
