An Escondido man jumped to his death off of Bonsall’s Old Highway 395 bridge over Interstate 15 on Tuesday, November 17.

Witnesses reported seeing Leland John Davis, a 60-year-old married resident of Escondido, jump from the Old Highway 395 bridge onto the Interstate 15 shortly after 11:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Davis landed on the roadway below and was found lying in the number three lane of southbound I-15 by an off-duty Escondido police officer on his way to work. The officer called 911 and moved Davis off the freeway and onto the freeway shoulder.
