Beauty on a budget - Fallbrook designer featured on Oprah Winfrey show can save homeowners a bundle

FALLBROOK – Local resident Tonya Orlando, an interior designer with impressive credentials, was recently featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Why? Because Orlando takes a unique approach to her job in order to save her clients’ money in these challenging financial times.

Orlando is a bargain hunter extraordinaire, and has a knack for decorating a home beautifully on a budget.

This clever decorator knows how to find and blend inexpensive items with nicer merchandise to create the overall ambiance of beauty.

“My job is to find things that look expensive but aren’t,” said Orlando. “I try to help my clients decorate their home at a savings by shopping wisely. In other words, I find ‘deals.’”

It is not uncommon for Orlando to sift through discount stores, resale shops and thrift shops, finding a blend of select items to use in home décor.

“That is a much wiser option for people in these tough financial times,” said Orlando.

When buying a piece of new merchandise like furniture is necessary, Orlando extends her designer discount to her customer.

“I am very budget-sensitive; I know how costly it can get,” she said.

Custom-made furniture, window coverings, and linens are handled deftly by Orlando in her wood shops and workrooms.

Orlando said in her experience most people “just need some help with placement of their furniture and accessories to create a new look.” Orlando believes in using what you already have and just placing it differently for a ‘new’ look to the room, commonly known as ‘redesign.’

With an hourly fee lower than the average design cost, Orlando said she “wants to be accessible to people.”

“I don’t have to spend a fortune or break the bank to decorate a home nicely,” said Orlando.

A familiar face around Fallbrook, Orlando enjoys discussing the possibilities for design and redesign of rooms with local residents. She can be reached at (760) 468-7145.
