FALLBROOK — “Pathways to Peace” was the Rotary project subject; Marty Rosenstein, a member of the La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club, was the speaker; and the Rotary Club of Fallbrook’s weekly luncheon meeting was the venue as members and guests went on a journey covering ways to achieve the illusive quest for peace.

Pathways to Peace is Rotary International’s (RI) nonpolitical aim to pursue peace in the world. Based on its mission of “Service Above Self,” RI seeks means to bring people and nations together through programs, projects and understanding.

Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, once said, “The way to war is a well-paved highway, but the way to peace is a wilderness.”

Some of Rotary’s cooperation is with the nonpolitical efforts at the United Nations in a partnership for peace. February is their “World Understanding and Peace” month.

Pathways to Peace was created by the San Diego Rotary District 5340 as a mission to connect service.

Speaker Rosenstein presented numerous examples of collective efforts to bring people together, such as a school created in Gaza which successfully combines students and teachers from both the Jewish and Muslim religious and ethnic groups in that region.
