Good news and bad news about RMWD

Good news, at the December Board meeting it was announced Rainbow water had received a grant to cover North and Northside reservoirs. So it looked like the discussed $100 a month assessment would be knocked down to $30 a month to cover Morro and Beck. After much discussion, the Board decided in these economic times even the $30 would be too much for some people, so reduced it further to a little over $16 a month over six years instead of three, the drawback, some time between three and six years the assessment will have to increase. But at least we will have enough money to do the study and preparation to start Beck, and be in compliance with the State Health Dept.

The bad news: General Manager Dave Seymour gave me a copy of another grant application of $1 million each for Morro and Beck reservoirs. This is the State Revolving Fund Loan Program, where one half of the loan is forgiven, this is the same grant that paid for North and Northside, because we accepted that grant we can’t even apply for this new one since Prop. A was defeated.
