Jazz festival dedicated to Ella Fitzgerald, to feature Poncho Sanchez

TEMECULA – Thousands will converge at a Temecula jazz festival to celebrate Ella Fitzgerald, one of America’s most popular female jazz singers for half a century.

The 2010 Temecula Valley International Jazz Festival (TVIJF) will be held July 9 to 11 in the Temecula’s wine country.

In her lifetime, Fitzgerald won 13 Grammy awards and sold over 40 million albums.

She worked with all the jazz greats, from Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Nat King Cole to Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman.

Headlining the festival and back by popular demand, Grammy Award winner Poncho Sanchez will be featured at this exclusive southwest Riverside concert.

More than anything, Sanchez is a storyteller. As the leader of a popular Latin jazz group, it’s his congas and seasoned ensemble that do the talking.

Recently winning a regional voting competition, this year’s TVIJF promises to be exciting by celebrating the life and influence of Fitzgerald.

International jazz artists and visitors from all over the globe to join thousands of other enthusiasts to enjoy a weekend filled with world-renowned entertainment.

Tickets are available online at http://www.temeculajazzfest.com or by calling Jon Laskin at (951) 678-2517.
