VFW requests baby donations

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook’s VFW Ladies Auxiliary will be coordinating with Operation Showers of Appreciation to host a baby shower for military moms on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Fallbrook VFW Post. They will be assisting 14 expecting mothers this time, several of whom are expecting their first baby and have a spouse deployed. Most of the moms are new to the military, and don’t have family nearby to help out.

This is their first real challenge as a military spouse. It is the Auxiliary’s hope that the community will come out in numbers to support these families. They are looking for any basic items these young families will need for the arrival and care of their new babies.

Donated items might include diapers, baby lotion, bottles, hygiene kits, burping cloths, “onesies” or crib sheets. They also hope to collect 14 new car seats. Items can be dropped off at 1175 Old Stage between noon and 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
