2009 ASB officers prepare to say adieu, breakfast on Jan. 25

Chuck Palahniuk once stated, “We all die. The goal isn’t to live forever; the goal is to create something that will.” As the first semester of the school year comes to a close, the current ASB officers’ reign also comes to an end.

The leadership class has recently been talking about the legacy that the 2009 officers will leave to the school and community and hopefully it will leave a lasting impression on everyone. While Wade Colburn, Rebecca Prentiss, Tori Kessel, Hilary Erbland, Johnna VandeVegte, Ashley Stalnaker and other seniors’ duties are coming to an end, their legacy will be remembered. ASB elections are this week and by Friday, January 15, the new ASB officers will be known. The ASB will continue to strive towards creating a fun environment at the school.

The final event that the 2009 officers have planned is the 2k4 Kids Foundation Pancake Breakfast. This event is open to the community and will take place on January 25 from 7 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The breakfast costs $5 and it includes pancakes, fruit, sausage, drinks and a fun environment. All the proceeds go directly to the foundation which is in honor of Mr. Parker’s wife and daughter.

The foundation, which gives scholarships to high school seniors, typically has a walk in the summer to raise funds. This breakfast, which was originally part of Legacy Week, is the last activity for these officers, so please come out and show your support for this exceptional foundation. If there are any questions about this event, please email Mr. Way at [email protected] or go to

In conclusion, the 2009 officers have opened up opportunities for the next year’s team and definitely have left a legacy. The second semester should be exciting as it includes highlights such as Prom 2010, Battle of the Genders Week, Sadies Hawkins and much more.
